It is either that the age of computers has caught up where nobody physically read books, or that the Library is of no more importance to the current students of the School, or that it is no longer being promoted as a place to visit.
There are a lot more things I can write about the school, the everlasting memories it has brought to a lot of us for the time we spent there. But the most important of all is, the School, Anglo-Chinese School or ACS Ipoh is still not considered a Heritage Site to be preserved as part of the notable History in Malaysia. Why? Only those in the political arena can answer that. As for us, especially me, I am proud to have been a student of this great School, and having a history to back it up with its Main Building still standing today, and which should have been a Heritage Site in the History of Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. We are still hopeful that one day, it will be declared as such, hopefully in my lifetime, but until then, we still make visits to our alma mater and organize our regular reunions with a visit, wherever possible, to the School we grew up in and proud to be part of its History, and which will remained forever in our hearts and the rest of our lives, until either amnesia or dementia or alzheimer sets in - hopefully not!

BASEL, Switzerland, March 18 (Reuters) - Tag Heuer, French
luxury group LVMH's biggest watch maker, plans to
freeze prices in some markets and cut them elsewhere in a move
to balance out the impact of the recent jump in the Swiss franc
and the euro's weakness.
Several luxury goods makers, including fellow watch makers
such as Richemont's Cartier as well as privately Luxury Branding Agency owned
Patek Philippe and fashion house Chanel, have resorted to
similar measures to erase major price discrepancies between
markets resulting from currency fluctuations.
Tag Heuer said prices would drop an average 8 percent in
Switzerland, China, the United States, the Caribbean, and
Central and South America, 7 percent in the UK and 13 percent in
Hong Kong, but it would not raise prices in the euro zone, Japan
and Singapore.
"Tag Heuer is seizing the opportunity of the recent
appreciation of the Swiss franc to rebalance its international
price policy," it said in a statement on Wednesday.
Brands are concerned that price differences, which can be
more than 30 percent between some Asian and European markets,
encourage parallel trading - when luxury goods are sold outside
of approved retail networks.
Brands say some of their luxury products bought in Paris or
Milan are sold back in China or on the Internet at prices lower
than in their boutiques and risk creating confusion between
original items and counterfeits.
Several analysts said that the round of price cuts could
have snowballing effects, prompting rivals in the same price and
product category to make similar moves.
"The penalty, if not, would be of potentially losing market
share," said Exane BNP Paribas analyst Luca Solca. "The
consequence of more widespread price cuts in China - obviously -
would be that part of the foreign exchange benefit from a weaker
euro would disappear from the bottom line, just at a time when
luxury players and investors alike were starting to salivate."
Patek Philippe said price differences, which could be 20-25
percent in Asia and the United States compared to Switzerland
and the eurozone, enticed customers to buy their watches abroad.
"Parallel trading is one of the biggest problems we have to
deal with," Patek Philippe Chairman Thierry Stern told Reuters
at the fair. "Some retailers are not just vigilant enough."
This month, Patek cut prices by as much as 14 percent in
China, 10 percent in the United States and 7 percent in the euro
zone. It estimated the move would result in a profit loss of
some 100-150 million Swiss francs.
Chanel, which on Tuesday announced unprecedented price cuts
of more than 20 percent in China and increases of around 20
percent in Europe, said the gray market also hurt the brand's
image and exclusivity.
The Swiss National Bank's surprise decision two months ago
to abandon its longstanding 1.20 Swiss franc per euro cap caused
the currency to surge to 0.86 per euro. The franc is currently
trading at 1.064 per euro.
The euro has lost almost a quarter of its value against the
dollar in the last 12 months, meanwhile, including 12 percent
since the start of this year.
"While price harmonisation is easier said than done and
foreign exchange Luxury Branding Agency volatility tends to make things quite
complicated, we believe the era of global, unique pricing in the
industry is not that far-fetched nor that far away," HSBC luxury
analysts wrote. "Chanel and Patek are showing the way."

Segedin Goulash Preparation
Ingredients: pork shoulder (1.5 lbs), sauerkraut (1lb), medium onion, flour (3 tablespoons), sour cream (1 cup), butter (or lard), salt, paprika, black pepper, caraway seeds
Prep Time: 2 hours
I showed you how to make steamed dumplings in the previous recipe. In this post, I show you how to prepare a great meal to go with them. The dish is called Segedin goulash (Segedinský guláš) and it’s a stew consisting of pork and sauerkraut. You will find it offered in most Slovak restaurants.
Chop up one medium onion (cibula), and brown it on butter (maslo).
Add cubed pork (bravcovina), along with 1 teaspoon of paprika, half a teaspoon of caraway seeds (rasca), few dashes of black pepper (cierne korenie) and some salt. Fry stirring until pork is cooked on all sides. This will take about 20 minutes.
Now add 1 lb of sauerkraut (kyslá kapusta) and enough water to cover the concoction. Cover, and simmer for 80 minutes, adding more water segedínský guláš as needed.
Take 3 tablespoons of segedínský guláš flour (múka) and brown it on melted butter (or lard). Mix into the stew. This will thicken the sauce.
Finally, stir in one cup of sour cream. Let boil for few minutes.

In February 1908, before an anxious audience in his Amsterdam workshop, Joseph Asscher raised his knife to cleave the world's largest diamond, the 3,106-carat Cullinan. Upon impact, the blade broke in two and the Belgian cutter nearly fell to the floor--yet the stone remained intact. For his second attempt, Asscher cleared the room except for the notary and dealt the decisive blow that broke the stone. The two biggest pieces of the diamond were used in the British Crown Jewels, which are on display at the Tower of London. Cullinan I, a 530.2-carat pear-shaped stone, was mounted in the Imperial Scepter; and Cullinan II, a 317.4-carat cushion cut, was set in the Imperial State Crown.
Asscher had gained some notoriety six years earlier when he created the patented Asscher cut for diamonds. Now, his great-grandchildren Joop and Edward Asscher have resurrected the distinctive cut, which is considered a precursor to the emerald cut. The Asscher cut features fewer facets than a traditional brilliant-cut diamond, and the linear pattern of the facets creates an understated, yet radiant, elegance.
Asscher-cut diamonds gained prominence in the angular Art Deco jewelry styles of the 1920s. However, the once illustrious Royal cars jewelry and diamonds Asscher Diamond Co., established in 1854 in Amsterdam, stopped producing the Asscher cut in the late 1930s following the Depression, and closed its workshop cars jewelry and diamonds at the onset of World War II. Only 15 employees out of 500 survived the war, though the family was determined to rebuild the company, which reopened in 1945.
While production of Asscher-cut diamonds ceased for decades, the classic cuts have remained highly sought after in estate and antique jewelry circles. "Asscher-cut diamonds have always been in demand," says Russell Zelenetz, an owner of the Madison Avenue estate jeweler Stephen Russell. "We have been selling original antique Asschers for 20 years." Still, he says, the older Asscher-cut diamonds are suddenly a hot trend among a younger clientele who want something unique. "People are attracted to older cuts like the Asscher for their warmth, character, and individuality." Among his prize pieces is a 6-carat, nearly flawless Asscher diamond Art Deco ring designed by famed American jeweler Raymond Yard. The ring is priced at $325,000.
Once the Asscher family learned that the house's antique diamonds were commanding top dollar in America, they spent two years perfecting the original Asscher cut to reveal a more intense brilliance while maintaining the sophisticated and subtle warmth of the original cut. Sixteen facets were added to enhance the stone's reflection of light.
To promote the updated Royal Asscher cut, they joined forces with New York's M. Fabrikant & Sons, another famous family-owned diamond dealer. "We recognized the demand for older cuts and at the same time the diamond industry's movement toward branded stones," says fourth-generation Fabrikant Sue Fortgang. Her family approached the Asschers and received the exclusive right to market and distribute the Royal Asscher cut to jewelers in North America.

The Impossible Voyage (Part I)
It is a website designed to provide answers to difficult
questions Fundamentalist Christians are often faced with, with the apparent
belief that any reader convinced and satisfied by their atrocious arguments
have already downed a gallon or 6 of the kool-aid in advance. It is not a
website for those honestly seeking answers; it's a site for those seeking
validation, and who aren't very picky with their sustenance.
My
first response was to get angry. Not angry that any of their ideas conflicted
with stuff I believe, but angry that my 3-year old is frequently forced to
carpool on highways shared with people who think this way operating motor
vehicles.
One
of my next thoughts was that English wasn't these folks native tongue. Not
because their grammar was poor or their punctuation terrifyingly sup-par, but because they
appear to have a fundamental ignorance of information that is readily available
to anyone with an English dictionary. They appear to think, for example, that
the words "science," facts," "evidence," "proof," "opinion," "hearsay,"
"rumor," "conjecture," "imagination, " and "magic mushroom hallucination" are
all synonyms, and therefore interchangeable. If, for example, some 17-year old
stoner walks up to you and says, "a werewolf ate my poodle;" this to them
constitutes "proof" that a cross between a timber wolf and Ron Artest devoured
Fluffy while they were out buying elbow-macaroni. They submit, for example
(because they don't want to have to explain how all the animals were
individually cared for on a daily basis on the Ark), the argument that Noah's
team of 8 wouldn't need to personally
care for all the animals on the Ark because "someone" (who is never identified)
told them that most animals hibernate (which isn't true); and since this was
probably occurring (it wasn't), they have just provided "scientific evidence"
that all of the animals on the Ark were hibernating, and thus would've had
adequate care. And that...is about
the extent of their academic proficiency. Buckle yourself in rocket skates for this
whirlwind...

many eerily similar to the Genesis account - so proving that a flood actually
occurred no more vindicates Genesis
than it does the Epic of Gilgamesh.

One of the problems with Christian
apologetic writing is that they love to cite "scientists" or "experts" or
"increasing numbers of whatevers" without actually referencing their mysterious
sources or citing the statistics they're talking about. (Jumping from 4 to 6 is
definitely a "growing number," but since it's so negligible, the nebulous
phrasing ends up being quite deceptive - as if yesterday only a half dozen "scientists" bought the explanation,
but it overnight ballooned to 2 million.) While I'm all for dressing up essays in all the ambiguity of, say, Revelation for entertainment value, it's a bad habit to
practice in scientific circles. One reason is that "science" isn't so much a
singular profession as it is a methodology employed by a wide variety of career options. Anyone
with a telescope is conceivably a "scientist," just as anyone with a basketball
is ostensibly a "basketball player," or anyone with a stamp collection or more
than 1 color Star Trek uniform is a "Still Searching for that Right Someone" on
eHarmony.com.
When
you say "scientists," are you talking about Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking, or
are you talking about your neighbor down the street with a butterfly net? Are
you talking about Einstein and Marie Curie, or are you referring to your
pre-med college roommate who blew his fingers off trying to invent rocket
skates? It matters. If I tell you
that "an increasing number of basketball players believe that I am The Next Big
Thing in Hoops," it is beneficial for the audience if I clarify whether I'm
referring to LeBron, Kobe, and D-Wade...or to Steve, Chuck, and That Sweaty Guy
With The Short Shorts down at the rec center. If you're reluctant to name your
sources, it suggests that maybe you're, uh, a little embarrassed by them.
Another
issue is that "science" encompasses a vast array of fields. Yes, an
electrochemist is as much of a scientist as an astrophysicist or an
oceanographer or a paleontologist, but being an expert in one field no more
qualifies you to comment on another than the Latvian women's water polo team
coach is qualified to draw up a Hail Mary for Bill Bellichek in the waning
seconds of the Super Bowl simply because they're both "Sports Guys."
I
won't reprint their several paragraphs here because we agree with their
calculations as Genesis has them: about 450 feet long x 75 feet wide x 45 feet
high, and comprised of 3 levels.
8 Dating Turnoffs Men Over 50 Should Stop Doing | Lisa Copeland
Here's a heads up for the post 50 single men out there... We ladies are so excited when you choose us as the "girl" you want to meet. Hours before our date with you, we are worrying whether you'll like us. Our bedroom floor is littered with clothes as we look for just the perfect outfit to impress you. We do our best to look good, hoping the two of us click. Then the date happens and sometimes we're bewildered by who we meet.
1. Gentlemen, please dress like you care about yourself. You don't have to wear a suit to impress us but it would be nice if you didn't wear your baggiest jeans and a stained shirt. You may be losing weight but there are a zillion discount stores out there that will gladly sell you a nice pair of jeans and a polo style shirt for less than $50. It's worth the investment if you want to get a second date with us.
2. Women are really turned off and have no interest in kissing your bad teeth or skimming their lips over visible skin tags on your neck. Aging takes its toll on all of us physically, but don't let that be an excuse for being sloppy. You may be the greatest guy on the planet with the most sensual lips but if your teeth are missing or your skin has developed tags, then I guarantee you're getting passed over for an issue that can be easily fixed with a quick visit to your doctor or dentist.
3. Please choose a picture that looks like you for your online dating profile. A friend recently had a date with a man who was 100 pounds heavier than his online picture revealed. She got to the restaurant and was unable to identify her date. She resorted to calling him, figuring the guy who picked his phone up was her date. Show us who you really are. Doing a bait and switch with your pictures, hoping we'll like you in person only makes us wonder what else you're hiding.
4. Please don't start our date by telling us gross stories like your dog has fleas, especially if we've hugged you. A client of mine actually had this happen. There's no way we want to expose ourselves to situations that might be contagious. If anything, we'll want to leave so we can go home and fumigate our clothes. Yuck!
5. If you ask us out for a first date, please pay. We're happy to share the bill with you at a later date but whoever does the asking should be the one pulling their wallet out. Please don't ask us out if you can't even afford a cup of coffee. Get your financial situation straightened out before dating.
6. We know if you like us, you want to impress us with all you do and have. You drone on and on about all the great things in your life, even showing us pictures of your house, your car, your landscaping and your dog. We want to get to know you, but a one-way monologue is boring. We were taught as little girls to make you feel good so we listen. Most of us are not sure where to interject without appearing rude. It would be so helpful if you asked us questions too. Dialogue is much more fun!
7. Men, as you've aged you've become far more passionate in your political views. Many a woman has been forced to listen to you pontificate about the world and how you feel it should be run. There's nothing wrong with sharing your views. Just don't lecture us for an hour and then expect us to go out with you again. After 10 minutes, you've totally turned us off.
8. Lastly, please don't stick your tongue down our throats at the end of a first date when you like us. A gentle kiss feels so much nicer. Women senior dating ideas are far more into romantic love and a slow gentle kiss will make us want you more. The tongue thrust makes us think you're at best overly aggressive and at worst a creep.
Okay, over 50's men out there, this was tough on you. My next article will be the biggest things women do to turn you off. If fact, feel free to make suggestions for what I should include in the comments.
In the meantime, if you really want to impress a woman consider keeping these eight turnoffs out of your dating repertoire. You'll have far better luck finding the woman of your dreams when you do.

U.S. Treasury Looks Into Online Marketplace Lending Industry

The U.S. Treasury Department on Thursday opened a study of the online marketplace lending industry, in one of the first online market place federal forays into the fast-growing sector that is an evolving alternative to traditional banking.
The Treasury asked for information about the benefits and risks associated with new online lending platforms--the type of technology that has been pioneered by Lending Club Corp. and other new "fintech," or financial technology, startups. The companies, sometimes called peer-to-peer lenders, are online platforms that match borrowers with investors.
The move raised the possibility of new rules for the industry after years of operating relatively untouched by government oversight. Regulations could raise online lenders' costs, but could also benefit the industry in the long term by encouraging stronger lending standards and consumer protections, analysts said.
In announcing the move, U.S. officials struck a positive tone about the industry. The Treasury wants to know more about "the business models and product offerings of online marketplace lenders; the potential for online marketplace lending to expand access to credit to historically underserved market segments; and how the financial regulatory framework should evolve to support the safe growth of this industry," wrote Antonio Weiss, counselor to Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew, in a blog post on Thursday.
"Our objective here is to understand what new opportunities these business models may present," another U.S. official added in a conference call with reporters. "At this point, we're really in the information-collecting stage."
Still, the Treasury's 12-page request for information asked how marketplace lenders manage the risk of fraud and hacker attacks, how they protect consumers against scams or default, how much investors in the loans rely on borrowed money, and whether the lenders should have to put up their own capital to back loans they originate or underwrite, a concept known as "skin in the game."
The study launched on Thursday is "a recognition that marketplace lending is growing," said Rob Lavet, general counsel for marketplace lender Social Finance Inc.
Since 2013, Social Finance's executives have had regular meetings with Treasury representatives, covering everything from the secondary market for marketplace loans to how its refinanced student loans have performed, Mr. Lavet said.
Lending Club, the largest firm in the sector, had no immediate comment.
Jaret Seiberg, an analyst with Guggenheim Securities, said "skin in the game" rules could be incompatible with the business model of some marketplace lenders, since they currently don't make loans with their own capital but instead fund the loans with investors' money. The Treasury Department "clearly suggests it sees value in the industry," he said, but "it is only a matter of time before there is more federal oversight."
Within the U.S., the volume of loans that marketplace lenders have extended has doubled every year since 2010 and hit $14 billion last year, according to Morgan Stanley analysts. They predicted it would continue to grow at a compound annual rate of 47% through 2020.
Despite peer-to-peer lending's fast growth, federal regulators have so far taken a benign approach to the industry. When asked at a congressional hearing this week how the Federal Reserve views the kind of alternative financing that companies in the sector provide, Chairwoman Janet Yellen said, "I'm not aware of regulatory issues at online market place this point."
In October, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau issued a proposal saying it had no intention of bringing enforcement actions against companies that offer innovative financial products that benefit consumers.
"We do not want regulations to unnecessarily limit consumer-friendly developments," wrote Dan Quan, a senior adviser to the CFPB director, in a blog post at the time.
Marketplace lenders use computer-driven systems to evaluate borrowers and approve them in minutes or hours, unlike banks that require most of their customers to apply for a loan at one of their branches, a process that can take days or weeks. These companies started out making unsecured personal loans, mostly to pay off credit-card debt, but have since branched out into bigger products such as small-business loans and mortgages.
But the firms have also operated without regulations that apply to other lenders. Lending Club, for instance, doesn't originate loans, so it isn't subject to bank regulation. Instead, it partners with Salt Lake City-based WebBank, which originates Lending Club's loans and sells them quickly to investors like hedge funds, or to other banks.
That arrangement allows Lending Club to operate with less capital than some leading credit card lenders, meaning it can generate more loans for every dollar of equity on its balance sheet, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. analysts said in a March report. It also means that Lending Club follows Utah's laws regarding excessive interest rates but not those in other states, which can be stricter.
The hands-off approach federal agencies have taken has created some uncertainty, such as about how marketplace lenders would fare if their practices were challenged by consumers in court. A recent ruling from the Second U.S. Court of Appeals in New York called into question the way in which the companies were skirting state interest rate laws, prompting at least one analyst to lower earnings estimates for two publicly traded marketplace lenders, Lending Club and OnDeck Capital Inc.
The Treasury said it would accept comments on its information request until about the end of August. It also plans to hold round-table discussions about the industry later this summer.

Supercell launches 'Clash of Clans' Winter Update - Charleston MMORPG
Mobile game developer Supercell today, December 11, launched its Winter Update for its popular multiplayer combat strategy game, "Clash of Clans." Today's update included changes intended to balance the game's economy, as well as several other tweaks.
Among the economy balancing changes is one that affects wall upgrading. In a previous update, Supercell made it so "Clash of Clans" players could upgrade walls of level 6 or higher with Elixir as well as Gold. Today that changed to walls of level 9 or higher, so walls up to that point still need to be upgraded with Gold. A few days ago, Supercell explained their reasoning for this change: they wanted to eliminate the easy "burning off" of Elixir for mid-level villages so that active attackers would have more resources available to plunder.
Other economy changes include lower level availability of Dark Elixir Drills (Town Hall level 7 for the first, Town Hall level 8 for the second), increased capacity for Dark Elixir Drills of all levels, and an additional level for Gold Mines and Elixir Collectors (12).
Non-economy changes include the introduction of the Layout Editor. "Clash of Clans" players can now save village edits to work on later and save multiple layouts to switch between at any clash of clans bot time. Also introduced today is the ability to watch an attack on one's village while it's happening, Level 7 Giants, and the ability to compare one's clan to others in clan local leaderboards.
Several combat balancing changes were clash of clans bot launched, as well. Archer Towers now do half their previous damage but are twice as fast (meaning damage is effectively the same), hitpoint values on various village buildings have been adjusted, and Lava Pups have had their hit points slightly reduced.

Don't destroy beach tourism, Egypt's new leader told | Reuters

As five hours go by in the sticky afternoon heat without a customer, he stretches out on the bag himself and dozes off.
It's been 17 months since a popular uprising unseated President Hosni Mubarak and tipped Egypt's tourism industry into crisis.
Many in the industry fear it will never fully recover if the new Islamist president, Mohamed Mursi, bans the skimpy swimwear and alcoholic drinks that are standard items on beach holidays for many foreign tourists.
"My business has shrunk by at least 70 percent in the past year," said Waleed, who asked to be identified by his first name only.
"Egypt lives on tourism. I think Mursi wants to Islamize tourism in the long run, but for the next few years he won't do anything because people need to eat."
Comments from Mursi, sworn in on June 30 after an interim period of army rule, and from Brotherhood officials suggest Waleed may be right.
The Brotherhood's 81-page "Nahda" (Renaissance) program does not mention beach tourism - which brings in the most tourist dollars by far - and officials in the movement have said they have other priorities for now.
But one hint of disapproval can be found in Nahda's promise to encourage alternatives - cultural, ecological and medical tourism, and desert excursions.
Pushed to clarify his position on bikinis and alcohol, Mursi refused to give a clear answer in a recent interview with al-Mehwar TV channel. He said tourism specialists must be consulted on all draft laws and described the issue as "very marginal, very superficial and affecting a very limited number of places".
Vigorous denials from Mursi and his Muslim Brotherhood allies have failed to allay broader fears among more liberally-minded Egyptians of a concerted attack on civic and personal freedoms in the name of religion.
PILLAR OF THE ECONOMY
Industry professionals say beach holidays make up as much as 80 percent of Egyptian tourism, a sector that became vital during the Mubarak era, when a chain of resorts were built from Sinai further south down the Red Sea coast.
Once the choice of ancient history enthusiasts and those who could afford luxurious cruises down the Nile, Egypt is now a serious rival to countries like Spain and Turkey as a sunny getaway for millions of cost-conscious Europeans.
Some 12 to 15 percent of Egypt's workforce attends to the needs of foreign visitors, directly or indirectly. Tourism accounts for 11 percent of gross domestic product and a quarter of foreign exchange earnings, economist Samir Makary said.
It has offered work for a fast-growing population that stagnating manufacturing sectors were unable to absorb. Many labor-intensive industries are tied to tourism such as construction, food distribution and carpet-weaving.
Last year's uprising, coupled with a global recession that also dampened travel demand, illustrates the dangers of relying on such a volatile industry.
Focused on Egypt's big northern cities, the street revolt barely creased a beach towel in the secure, isolated Red Sea resorts, yet foreigners cancelled holidays there anyway.
That helped push foreign reserves at Egypt's central bank from $36 billion before the uprising in January 2011 to about $15.53 billion last month, representing less than three months of imports, a level seen by economists as hazardous.
Tourism professionals appear confident that Mursi will avoid adding to their problems.
"They will allow tourism to operate normally until there are economic alternatives - and there never will be," said Karim Mohsen of the Egyptian Travel Agents Association.
"Ban bikinis and alcohol and live with the guilt of at least 4.5 million people out of work in Egypt... People will take to the streets."
TENTATIVE RECOVERY
After slumping in 2011, the number of visitors to Egypt in the first five months of this year was still down 26 percent from 2010, at 4.4 million. Tourism revenues were down 24 percent from 2010 at $3.6 billion, according to official figures.
In April, at the height of the spring tourist season, the world's biggest tour operator TUI Travel said demand for holidays in Egypt was improving, with resorts recovering faster than Cairo, the hotbed of the uprising, which remained weak.
Tourism Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour told reporters on Tuesday he expects the country will have received more than 12 million tourists by the end of 2012, a 23 percent rise over the previous year.
For a country that foreigners were deserting during the height of the revolt against Mubarak, the comeback suggests an enduring appeal that could ensure growth - politics permitting.
"I am confident that tourism will be business as usual in the coming years," said Ahmed Seddik, a Cairo-based travel consultant and tour guide. "Tourism is one of the pillars of the Egyptian economy. Mursi will simply not take chances with it."
Makary, the economist, said he expected tourism to recover in the short term, but its future health would depend on the government.
The biggest danger to tourism was not in the threat of an Islamist crackdown but political instability that shows little sign of abating, travel executives said.
Each move towards a political settlement between the Brotherhood and the military has ended in failure.
Most recently Mursi has challenged the generals by reversing their decision to dissolve the Islamist-led parliament.
"Short- to medium-term tourism investments are negatively affected by the general political instability, but long-term investments have halted completely," said Mohsen of the travel agents association.
Civil disturbances by Egyptians frustrated by the pace of political change and made worse by ineffectual security have hit Egypt's image as a safe place to visit.
Waleed said eruptions of violence and strikes had blocked roads to the coastal cities and scared off tourists. A stadium riot that killed 74 soccer fans Excursions in Sharm El Sheikh in the city of Port Said on February 1 sparked further violence in Cairo.
U.S.-based Crystal Cruises dropped Egypt from its itinerary this year, and said sales of its cruise plummeted following the stadium riots. The Pyramids of Giza were a staple of its cruises for years.
"There are a lot of marketing dollars spent promoting the original program," said Mimi Weisband, Crystal Cruises Public Relations Vice President. "Travel agents and our guests, from the U.S. and internationally, were telling us they were concerned and nervous about the safety of travel in Cairo."
Instability means any recovery in Egyptian tourism will be fragile at best. Tourism officials and industry executives say it is hardly the moment for political and social experiments.
"No political force, political party, president or government working in a democratic, responsible framework, and therefore accountable to public opinion ... could follow policies that harm tourism in Egypt," said Abdel Nour, the tourism minister.
Industry executive Mohsen pointed to Excursions in Sharm El Sheikh Egypt's more austere neighbor across the Red Sea as a cautionary tale.
"Saudi Arabia has the best virgin beaches, with soft sands. They have plenty of airports and good roads," Mohsen said. "But not a single tourist goes except for the Muslim pilgrimage."

The Keys to Increasing Women's Economic Participation in the Middle East | Badr Jafar
It is widely economic development consulting accepted that increasing female representation in business decision-making is not just a women's issue. Rather, it is a business issue that is consistent with global best practice in corporate governance.
I believe the same principle applies at the economic level, and that increasing women's economic participation through education, employment and nurturing entrepreneurialism, produces lasting benefits for both individuals and the communities to which they belong.
In many parts of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the economic participation of women has risen significantly in recent decades. At the heart of this process has been the provision of expanded access to education, professional development and employment opportunities.
It should go without saying, but there is significant evidence that increased female involvement in decision-making delivers important benefits to a business and an economy more broadly.
For example, a study of Fortune 500 companies by Catalyst found that firms with the highest proportion of female Board Directors outperformed those with the least by 66%. The Credit Suisse Research Institute has found that over the past six years, companies with at least one woman on their boards have outperformed those with none by 26%.
Despite the evidence, there is still a long way to go. According to the UK's Equality and Human Rights Commission, at the current rate of change it will take more than 70 years to achieve gender-balanced boardrooms in that country's largest 100 companies.
However, I see signs closer to home to make me more optimistic. According to Al Masah Capital, women already own or run approximately 30% of small and medium enterprises in the United Arab Emirates. The Arab Women Leadership Outlook suggests that one in every eight firms in the MENA region is female-owned, and more than 30% of female entrepreneurs in the region own large firms employing more than 250 workers.
Within family-owned companies, which have historically been the backbone of our regional economies, the signs are also positive. Last year, the Pearl Initiative - an initiative I founded in partnership with the United Nations Office for Partnerships to promote good corporate governance - conducted interviews with more than 100 family-owned companies from across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and found that 32% had female representation on their boards.
There are many things individuals, businesses and governments can do to harness this growing momentum and further embed the culture of increased women's participation into our economic existence. To begin with, we must continue to make the case for greater female economic participation in the MENA region, and ensure women have the tools they need to succeed in a regional job market economic opportunities assessment characterized by high rates of youth unemployment.
One organization contributing to that process is Education for Employment (EFE). With a network of not-for-profit organisations throughout the Middle East and North Africa, EFE seeks to tackle regional youth unemployment, including among young women, through a combination of education, facilitation and support. Specifically, EFE delivers training tailored to the needs of the job market, connects graduates with employment opportunities, and provides ongoing support for job seekers and entrepreneurs.
For employers, the retention of women must also be made a priority. Employers that can retain and promote women through the provision of strong HR support at pivotal points in their careers, flexible working options where they are required and structured mentoring will undoubtedly reap the benefits of this investment over time.
With the ILO reporting that average youth unemployment in the Middle East and North Africa stands the highest in the world at above 25%, there remains a tremendous amount of underutilized productive capacity in the region. As a direct result, potentially transformative opportunities for individual, social and economic development are not being realized.
It is only through the twin pillars of education and employment that the economic participation of women in the MENA region can be expanded both now and in the future, for the benefit of both our economies and our societies.

Saudi Arabian Women and any woman entering the kingdom are not entitled to the same freedoms that we in the west take for granted.They are not allowed to drive, they have to wear an Abaya (A long black dress that covers them from head to foot), they must cover their hair and they are not allowed to socialize in private with a man who is not their direct blood relative (or husband.)

Women cannot drive, it is against the law! Therefore it is very difficult for a woman here to be able to get herself to work unless she has a driver. However unless the driver is a member of her direct family she still runs the risk of being accused of being alone with a man!
Expat Women Working in Saudi Arabia
You will see many expatriate women working here in Saudi Arabia, most coming from countries like the Philippines and Indonesia who work here as domestic staff and nurses. But you will not see them working in the Saudi Arabia News stores where they can mix or in factories and the like. The domestic staff working for companies and hospitals are often bussed direct from accommodation to work and then back at the end of the shift and locked into the accommodation to protect their morals!

I have had the privilege of working in a company that employs Saudi women, I have found them to be well educated and well motivated towards doing their jobs, much more so than the men! However the number of working women I have met outside of hospitals I can count on my fingers and still have some left, and I have worked here as a consultant visiting many companies.
Where men and women do work in the same company there are very strict rules to keep them separated, the women have a section of their own and they should not be alone in a closed office with a college.
The government claim a high percentage of women working here however I just don't see it, other than in the hospitals and in the women's sections of the banks where I cannot go.

Late in 2014, DevExpress took over the maintenance of the venerable ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit. Our major goals for the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit were these:
Make it work and make it stable - The library had many issues (some 2,200 at the last count) that prevented it from working properly. So the first job was prioritizing them and solving the major blocking ones (in the end, totalling nearly 1/3 of those 2,200). For more detail, please take a look at the What's new in v15.1 information below.Improve the 'getting started' experience - The ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit (ACT) was very difficult to download, install, and start using. We have improved this experience immeasurably by introducing a fantastic new installer that installs ACT into the Visual Studio toolbox for versions 2010 through 2013.Introduce modern browser support - The ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit did not work in all modern browsers. With the v15.1 release, it now works with all popular HTML 5 browsers.Add support for Visual Studio 2013 templates - The ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit did not support Visual Studio 2013's new web project templates well. With this v15.1 release, we have solved this major issue.Provide an upgrade path - The ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit's core codebase is now over 7 years old. New installation experience
DevExpress has redesigned and created an improved ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit installer that leverages Visual Studio's extensibility features. This new installer automatically registers the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit components into the Toolbox of all available Visual Studio versions that you have installed on your system.
Single binary
The former ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit releases provided different assemblies for each .NET version. Starting with v15.1 we've built a single assembly that supports all .NET versions later than .NET 3.5. Support for .NET 3.5 has been dropped.
Dependency cleanup
The ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit assembly is now free from external dependencies: it no longer requires AjaxMin, HtmlAgilityPack, or WindowsAzure. All functionality depending on third-party packages has been extracted to separate packages (ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit.StaticResources, ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit.HtmlEditor.Sanitizer), all of which are available as Nuget packages.
ASP.NET Web Optimization framework for JavaScript and CSS bundling and minification
The outdated custom resource bundling and minification mechanism (causing the dependency on ToolkitScriptManager) has been replaced with a modern and better approach, using the ASP.NET Web Optimization framework.
Modern browsers
The new Toolkit can be easily used with the latest standard Visual Studio web-project templates. Therefore, it works with Bootstrap. And it also ajax control toolkit examples works in modern HTML 5 browsers.
Source code put in order
We worked hard to clean and add a structure to the entire source code tree. Unused and outdated code has been removed. The Visual Studio solution has been reorganized to a plain and simple structure. And now the new build pipeline is considerably faster and more straightforward. The new layout is easier to understand and faster to build.
Rollback of unfinished and experimental features
We have removed features from past releases that were incomplete and/or experimental. For example, two major items that caused many issues and headaches were the malfunctioning support for Windows Azure and the so-called "jQueryzation" of ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit.
Bug fixes
With the v15.1 release, we have addressed some major issues for the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit. Restructuring and cleaning up the toolkit was just the starting point to fixing many of the bugs. We have even more plans for the toolkit so stay tuned!

Understanding Professional Indemnity Insurance

Professional Indemnity Insurance is more widely demanded than ever before, with professions from Accountants to Zoologists valuing the protection it offers. However, Professional Indemnity Insurance is complex and unlike most other types of insurance so it is important that policyholders understand how their cover works.
When deciding if a policy is suitable for your business consider the following:
Professional Indemnity Insurance is written on a claims made basis. This means that if you need to make a claim there must be a live policy in place and you must claim on that policy, even if the cause of the claim dates back many years when a previous policy or no policy was in place.
Because of the claims made nature of Professional Indemnity Insurance, if you do not maintain cover then you will not be protected if a claim comes out of the woodwork. Therefore if you retire or cease trading you should consider run-off cover that will ensure protection continues. If your business merges then you should ensure that there is continuity of cover.
Again, because Professional Indemnity Insurance is claims made, insurers may not want to expose themselves to the risk of any past mistakes being claimed for. Therefore they may set a retroactive date on the policy and will then not accept any claims that have their root before that date.
Professional Indemnity policies will have a Limit of Indemnity, which is the maximum value that can be claimed. The limit will either be Any One Claim or In The Aggregate. An Any One Claim limit is the maximum that can be claimed per claim/incident but the professional indemnity insurance number of claims that can be made on that policy is unlimited. An In the Aggregate limit is the total amount that can be claimed in a policy year. Therefore the latter version gives far less cover and you risk one large claim leaving you without cover.
These are just some of the peculiarities of Professional Indemnity Insurance. In addition, the actual policy wordings can vary widely between insurers, with some policies offering broad cover whilst others are prohibitively restrictive. Professional Indemnity Insurance can be far from straightforward so before you waste money on the wrong cover speak to an independent broker.

Google gets fashionable and launchs new site, Boutiques.com - New York Fashion
Just in time for Christmas and Black Friday, Google, the second most successful company in the world, is now dipping it's virtual toe into the internet retail pond. With a new Web site called Boutiques.com and virtual designer boutiques, set to launch Wednesday, Google is placing it's bets on the largest growing sector of the economy...shopping!
The mammoth search engine set to host an introductory party in New York City, aptly named "High Tech Fuses With High Fashion", Google may be moving in on the already established sites of ShopStyle, Revolve Clothing, and Polyvore. The difference between these shops and Boutiques.com is the fact that these shops can be shared, thus creating a new crazy world of social networking coupled with style. Designers like Diane Von Furstenberg, Marchesa, Christian Louboutin, and Issac Mizrahi will set up their own Google shops, along with celeb style icons such as Sarah Jessica Parker and possibly Katie Holmes.
Also there may be a gaming and entertainment aspect added to the site, which may (if not careful) allow the designer's virtual boutique on Google compete with the designer's own website. Google is also using their new shopping site to compete with Ebay's apparel sections. Also, Ebay already partners with several designers, such as Derek Lam, who design items specifically to be sold on Ebay.

Google does plan to eventually roll out the site to other countries and add clothing for men, the company said. Google which already owns YouTube and Gmail, seems to be poised to become the web's shopping mall of the world.
